Rockstar is a 2012 Hindi action thriller film directed by Nikhil Advani and produced by Anurag Kashyap. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan, Preeti Desai and Manoj Bajpayee in lead roles. It was distributed worldwide on 12 May 2012. The film revolves around a rock star from Mumbai called Siddharth "Twist" Shetty who has been placed under house arrest by his past life of abusing his fame and power. He gets a call from an old friend telling him that he needs him to get back to the music scene with a big comeback concert scheduled for six months away, but there's one problem: nobody knows who he is anymore. When he wakes up the next day, he sees an ad for his upcoming comeback concert in the newspaper. He is shocked to learn that he is not the rock star Siddharth "Twist" Shetty but someone else's identity. He has to find out who he really is and also face all other challenges to get back to his career and life in music. The others needed to be eliminated before they could take over his identity, including playing cards during crucial meetings, committing crimes while he was under house arrest, and destroying evidence while looking for him after the concert. After many hurdles, Twist was able to prove all of them guilty (except Bhabhiji). At this point, Twist comes to a crossroads: to get rid of the others and reclaim his identity or to continue trying to live in the character's name. After much thinking, he chooses the path of argument and ignores what Bhabhiji (the ghost) came up with (Bhabhiji wanted Twist to believe that if he doesn't believe in it then nobody will). After all that, Bhabhiji declares that if twist wants his identity back then he should see the face of everyone who has ever tried and failed and followed them in life. He can only see one person: his own father Hari Hariwala, who had abandoned Twist when he was a child. Hari Hariwala is an ex-cop who was framed by Vidyadhar Khurana (played by Pankaj Dheer). Khurana then took over his life and his position in the police force. Twist then has to stand against Khurana (a huge fight scene follows). At one point, Twist accidentally shoots himself, but recovers. Twist's friend B.T Raghu, who also worked with The Strings, kept telling Twist that he should take the name of 'Twist' while doing anything but Twist never did so because he wanted to respect all The Strings members. At the end, Twist gets into a fight with Khurana and defeats him. Then he realises that he has died, but because he did not want to take the name of 'Twist' while doing anything during the movie, his character's name was changed to 'Twist'. Twist then comes back to life. He then takes his identity back and fulfills all the promises that he could not due to being under house arrest. The soundtrack for "Rockstar" was composed by A. R. Rahman, while the lyrics are penned by Irshad Kamil & Danish Sabri, Kausar Munir Shareefpuri & Danish Sabri for songs featured in film. cfa1e77820
